Using discourse analysis and ethnographic insights on pulutan as a cultural keyword, the study argues that the phrase subverts traditional food-drink dynamics by turning a human drinking companion into the consumed object of desire. The analysis reveals how Filipino inuman sessions serve as liminal spaces where risqué humor, male/female gaze, and power negotiations are enacted through playful code-switching.
