Directed by Farhan Akhtar, Lakshya stars Hrithik Roshan as Karan Shergill, a directionless young man from a privileged family who transforms into a disciplined army officer. Inspired by the real-life capture of Point 5179 during the Kargil War, the film traces Karan’s journey from apathy to purpose—his "lakshya" (goal). With powerful performances by Preity Zinta, Amitabh Bachchan, and Om Puri, and a stirring soundtrack by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy (including the iconic "Main Aisa Kyun Hoon" ), the movie initially underperformed but later gained a strong cult following for its realistic war sequences and emotional depth.
