Ra.One was born out of a desire to create a film that would cater to the growing demand for superhero movies in India. The film's script was written by Javed Akhtar and Anees Bazmee, who drew inspiration from Western superhero films, as well as Indian mythology. The story revolves around a video game developer, Shiv Gupta (Arjun Rampal), who creates a game called "Ra.One," a virtual superhero with extraordinary powers.
