For the uninitiated, the film’s narrative structure is reminiscent of Hollywood classics like I Am Sam , yet it remains deeply rooted in Indian sentiments. The story follows Krishna, who works in a chocolate factory in Ooty. His world revolves around his daughter, Mahalakshmi (played by a scene-stealing Sara Arjun).

The film is heavily inspired by the 2001 Hollywood movie "I Am Sam" .

The Hindi dubbed version of Deiva Thirumagal is also available, which allows a wider audience to experience the movie. The dubbed version retains the original soundtrack and score composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar.
