Abstract This paper presents Room Girl, an autonomous virtual roommate agent designed to assist users with in-home management tasks, social companionship, and environment personalization. We describe the system architecture, interaction design, safety and privacy controls, and iterative improvements culminating in release r14 (patched). A controlled user study (N=30) evaluates usability, perceived companionship, task effectiveness, and privacy perceptions. Results indicate high task-success (87%), moderate companionship ratings (M=3.9/5), and positive reception of privacy safeguards. We discuss limitations and future work.
