Most romance dramas rely on the "boy meets girl in a coffee shop" trope. DOTS throws that out the window in Chapter 1. We are introduced to (Song Joong-ki), a Special Forces captain, and Kang Mo-yeon (Song Hye-kyo), a cardiothoracic surgeon. Their meet-cute happens in the emergency room, but it is tinged with moral ambiguity and tension. Shi-jin is witty, charming, and dangerous; Mo-yeon is professional, stressed, and brilliant. The chemistry is palpable from the first frame, driven not by clumsiness, but by intelligence and banter.
