Zyryab (c. 790–c. 857) was a renowned musician, composer, and music theorist from Iraq. He was of Persian origin and lived during the Abbasid Caliphate. Zyryab was a student of the famous musician and composer Ishaq al-Mawsili. He is credited with numerous innovations in music and is known for his expertise in playing the lute (ud) and singing. Zyryab's influence extended beyond music; he was also known for his contributions to fashion, culinary arts, and social etiquette.
