On a failed test, you can choose to lose a Corruption point or have your character suffer a "blackout" period (1d6 days of madness).
Failing a Corruption Test can temporarily remove a character from action or permanently decrease their Corruption points. If the score reaches zero, the character is lost to madness or institutionalized. Diverse Settings and Playstyles
