Early morning in #istanbul when the streets are still calm. Something that caught us by surprise was the fact that cars and scooters really don’t slow down much for pedestrians and they get really close to you when they pass. Definitely use the sidewalk whenever you can! Lots of fun shops and cafes here near the Galata Tower where we’re staying.

#Istanbul flowers for sale near the #Kadikoy ferry. Love the colors! Do you buy flowers when you travel? We’re out most of the day so we didn’t buy any but I sure was tempted.

This morning, we visited the Basilica Cistern. It is the largest of several hundred ancient cisterns that lie beneath the city of #Istanbul. It was built in the 6th century and is such an incredible sight. It’s easy to grab a quick bite to eat on the streets of #istanbul. A dürüm or dürme is a Turkish wrap sandwich that is usually filled with typical döner kebab ingredients. Tom and I had one for lunch yesterday. Then it was time for some fresh fruit juice.
